The Speed camera that is located on Queens Road, 17.5 metres E of Junct Cheetham Hill Rd is no longer there.
This camera was removed during roadworks and a new building site being erected.
Why was this camera removed and when will it be replaced?

Just awit until the new generation of speed cameras Buit into lamp posts Ect they dont need any flash and take the picture of the driver as well as the car registration .How are we all going to keep a lookout then?? Like the man in the post said keep just under the 30 limit and you will be ok .Unless you are one of the many who dont register their cars and run them without insurance ??? Because of lack of traffic police on the roads .

there are people who constantly speed putting us all in danger.Put up the fine this would help to stop speeding.

Given the 10%+2mph rule that applies to cameras, I think they should reduce 30 and 40mph limits by 5mph, and then anyone caught travellint at 10mph above the 'new' limit should be heavily fined and receive six penalty points, and anyone caught travelling at more than 15mph above the 'new' limit should be automatically banned for a year. Now that's a deterrent that WOULD deter the vast majority of speeders, and undoubtedly reduce the number of fatal and serious injury collisions significantly as a consequence.

When will you get it; there is no direct or indirect corelation between speed and accidents. There is only one cause of accidents and that is lapse of concentration.

As for you who all whinge about drivers going about without insurance: If motor insurance was banned and we were all directly responsible for our own actions, I am sure that we would all drive a lot safer.

Educate pedestrians, put barriers between roads and pavements, build underpasses, build footbridges, remove speed cameras, chicaines, traffic calminng measures and other things that destract drivers, scrap speed limits on motorways, ban motor insurance, teach children not to play on or near roads and you have a much better road safety solution.

Please think with your own mind and not the mind set of the media.

I've got a much better idea Jake. Let's have 20mph limits in all town centres and incorporate all but the busiest residential streets into Home Zones with a strictly enforced 10mph limit. That would encourage millions of people to get out of their cars (if only sometimes) and walk and cycle more. It would make life safer for many elderly people who are perhaps not as agile as they used to be, or whose sight or hearing is not what it used to be. It would also mean that parents would be much more inclined to let their kids (above a certain age of course) go out on their own with their friends and to cycle to school or wherever, etc, etc. And THERE *IS* a direct correlation between speed and road collisions and fatalities and serious injuries, and only a moron - or a propagandist for the road lobby - would say otherwise.

speed cameras are a great thing but they still don`t stop the road bullies.
I am fed up of being bullied along the road and to drive faster by male drivers in their work vans etc
and i often suffer verble and rude gesture abuse because they don`t like driving behind you if you are sticking to the speed limit.
Some mail drivers think they own the roads.

The Greater Manchester Safety Camera Partnership do not have Speed Awareness Courses as they do in Lancashire. One of the things shown on the course is how to deal with aggressive, tailgating drivers which would help Jackie. The Manchester Evening News Tues 19/04/06 reports a ??1million haul for speeding motorist on the M62.The average driver does not know what speed the speed limit is and does not know what speed they are doing. Hence the stamping on the footbrake whenever they see anything that resembles a camera!Pathetic!

I think it would be a good idea to have the speed of the road you are travelling on marked in a circle at various points on every 'A' road, then stupid motorists who are travelling at 40 mph in a 40 mph zone won't break suddenly when they think they are in a 30 mph zone, almost causing an accident. And how many of us know for certain whether the 'A' road we are on is a 30 mph or 40 mph zone?

Speed awareness courses SHOULD be the norm in ALL authorities up and down the UK NOT just Lancashire;I think most people would find this preferable to points on your licence and a fine for going over 30mph.

I agree that cameras have a real role to play in road safety but why have them on long downhill section of road in relatively rural locations when there is no speed marking on the road and it is very difficult to keep below 30mph due to the hill

I love it when some young fool overtakes me, because they expose any speedtraps up ahead. I have been overtaken at speed many times by a boy racer, only to overtake them a mile up the road.....while they are giving their details to a speed cop....Ha Ha ha.....thank god for boy racers!
