There are also speed cameras in the roadworks on the M66 near Bury. But there are none south of Bury on the southbound carriageway which means alot of drivers do 70mph+!

I would like to see an army of traffic police to enforce the Highway code including speed limits, Parking in unappropriate places ( pavements ! ), Jumping and ignoring red lights at Pelican crossings. The list is endless... Do us all a favour Stop bleating about fines. Cut your Speed and Cut your points....

Maybe drivers will visit these locations in the hope they can get a free holiday snap? Or is it to ensure that they speed up when going past the cameras so that Manchester's coffers are filled to overflowing (how noble of you).
Of course, there's no possibility that drivers might feel free to drive too fast because they know where the cameras are located. Anyone who thought that would be totally crazy, wouldn't they?
Or perhaps you really condone speeding - you're just a tad shy of coming right out and saying so...
I just hope there are no kids playing out of sight of a speed camera this summer. Maybe MEN would donate to their funeral costs?

For those who raise the argument of cameras being a stealth tax, your argument is flawed- the only purpose of safety cameras is ROAD SAFETY. Each camera is sited due to the accident history- so treat each camera as a memorial to someone killed or injured. If it was a Stealth Tax- then it would be the only tax you don't have to pay- Just lift your right foot!.

Lets have cameras ,hundreds of them, to stop the aggressive, noisy anti-social behaviour of many people.
Without enforcement, laws mean nothing .. and will be disregarded. Only road design & the chance of being caught will deter rapidly declining behaviour.

Secondly, do my eyes decieve me or are there some people in the world who actually think it is a good idea to have more speed cameras/cops on the road??!! I am aghast, I can only assume that these individuals drive B-Reg Volvos and wear home knitted cardigans. By adopting that view point they might as well sign themselves up to 24 hour 365 day government monitoring by GPS collar tied round their necks. Big Brother in any form (especially speed cameras) should not be encouraged, let alone embraced.
