Evil Brady deserves no favours

Winnie Johnson, mother of Moors Murder victim Keith Bennett has spoken out against Ian Brady's bid to transfer to a Scottish prison.
THE mother of missing murder victim Keith Bennett has blasted a bid by his brutal killer Ian Brady to move back to Scotland.

The Moors Murderer, who was born in a Glasgow slum, wants to transfer to a hospital in his homeland.

Evil Brady, now 71, has staged a series of hunger strikes and believes that authorities north of the border may end the forced feeding regime he is on and allow him to die.

But Winnie Johnson, whose schoolboy son Keith fell victim to Brady, has sent a message to the twisted killer: "Tell me where my son is first."

Brady and his lover Myra Hindley shocked the nation after luring five youngsters to their death in the 60s. Three bodies were recovered on Saddleworth Moor.

Keith Bennett was 12 when he went missing in 1964 - and has never been found. His body is also believed to be buried somewhere on the Pennine moors. His mum Winnie, from Longsight, said that Brady deserved no favours. She challenged him to end her agony by revealing the final resting place of her son.

She said: "I want Brady to turn round and tell me where he is and then tell the police. Then after that, they can do whatever the hell they like with him. If he gets permission to go to Scotland, then they might let him die naturally.

"If that happens I will never know what happened. I'm still living a life of hell."

Compassionate

Lawyer Giovanni Di Stefano, who is representing Brady, said a transfer bid was being drawn up, inspired by the recent release of the Lockerbie bomber on compassionate grounds.

The bomber, who is suffering from cancer, was allowed home to Libya to die.

Government officials have played down any possibility of a transfer for Brady. Although offenders detained under the Mental Health Act can apply to switch hospitals across the border, the move would need to be agreed by the Justice Secretary in Whitehall, along with Scottish ministers.

A Scottish government spokesman told the M.E.N it would not support the move.

A formal request would need to be made to Ashworth high security hospital in Merseyside, where Brady has been held since 1995.

A spokesman for Mersey Care NHS Trust, which runs the hospital, said: "We have no knowledge of any request."

Leave him where he is. Give him the best medical treatment available and allow him one last chance to end Mrs Johnson's torment.
His continued suffering and futile attempts to end his own life (several over the forty years he's been inside) are the best argument AGAINST capital punishment there can be.
