A CAREER criminal has been imprisoned for breaking into more than 70 homes and businesses.
Burglar Trevor Cohen was jailed for six-and-a-half years after fingerprints linked him to dozens of unsolved break-ins in High Peak and Derbyshire.
Cohen, from Phillip Way, Hyde, was arrested after cash was stolen from the home of an 84-year-old woman in Charlesworth. Appearing at Derby Crown Court, he asked for a further 70 burglaries stretching back to 2001 to be taken into account.
Many of the burglaries took place in Glossop and surrounding towns, with cash and jewellery taken. Det Chief Insp Sam Slack said: "Cohen is a prolific burglar who preyed upon homes across the High Peak for many years.
"I hope his victims find some comfort in his conviction and residents know their community is now a safer place to live."

Could you imagine a 6.5 year sentence being given in Manchester? I think not.

He deserves whatever misfortune is coming his way.

But on the same day different court.
Scurrilous deadly driver Kills a father of five leaves him to die at the side of the road and jumps country = 3 1/2 years. Ridiculous! Just plain ridiculous! What is wrong with this picture?

That should keep the prolific burgulars out of mischief for a little while. No bail between arrest and trial for burgulars should also help to trim the total.

What the article fails to mention is how many times he has been arrested since the age of 12. If he had been punished properly at the outset this criminal would now be living a useful life having been dealt with properly as a youngster.
Both he and his victims have the "mamby pampy be kind to criminal nutters" to blame. Our soft attitude does nobody any favours.

Hit the nail right on the head there, but wait and see you'll get some mush head shouting up how hard done to they have been in their poor little lives! Wait and see? The brigade will be along in a short while, unless they find a better cause to bleat on about ;-)
