Binmen's BNP flyer warning

BNP flyer spotted on a bin lorry in Salford.

COUNCIL chiefs have pledged to tighten inspections after a BNP flyer was seen on a bin lorry.

Formal warnings have now been issued to the people responsible for displaying the leaflet.

The lorry was doing its rounds in Worsley, Salford, when a resident caught the flyer on camera.

Salford council bosses have now warned staff that promoting political parties is against the rules.

Union bosses say they hope lessons have been learned. Coun Joe Murphy said: "I have explained to staff that some people may find such material offensive

"And I reminded them that the council has strict rules on promoting political parties in this way."

I hope that goes for other party leaflets and advertising on council trucks/cars you wouldnt want to be seen as a racist council would you?

What a load of earwax! It has nothing to do with whether some people might be offended or not. A council is supposed to work for all its residentsregardless of political affiliation, or lack thereof. It is not there to promote any political party. I assume that the bin lorry actually is council property as it certainly displays the council logo. Therefore it should not promote a political affiliation. Simple really ...

You have two stories at the moment, whose contrast is revealing about the state of this country. A dustman has been dealt with for having a BNP leaflet where it can be seen by others. You main story as I write this is of someone who is bragging on line that he assaults people, "Thug's Facebook boast"; nothing seems to be happening to him.

Eeerrrrmmmmmm!!! Now I am truly baffled by this latest gem of yours mate. How can one be racist towards a piece of paper. A leaflet, no matter who it is supporting, isn't a member of a race you see. It is more a k ind of.....well.....a piece of paper really. Or did I miss a meeting?

We sent leaflets out with the date and time did u miss them, they were diplayed in all our council vehcles.

A piece of paper can be seen as a personell view of a racist .Like all people who live in salford steal cars...now if that was wrote on a bit of paper in the windscreen that would be provocative.people see the BNP bit of paper a racist sign???

The views expressed by the BNP are not political they are criminal. Encouraging discrimination or violence against people of a different nationality or race or creed is not something to be treated lightly. How many people were killed, crippled and traumatized (many of them and their families still suffering 60 years afterwards). Hatred is not politics; it's just plain evil.

I think the SAS and M15 sould investigate and execute the offender lets hope it turns out to be one of the scum that beats up fat blokes or robs old folk. What a load of rubbish (sorry about the pun) get a life you council expense spongers.

Is it not an offence to have anything in the windscreen of a vehicle that might obstruct the driver's vision ahead? Why does Salford council then have sheets of paper in the windscreen bearing a number for some reason, located directly behind the BNP paper? Should the council not prohibit the display of anything in the windscreen instead of making such a fuss about an unofficial bit of paper whilst ignoring its own?
