What did they expect just like the 'this is our city poster' which they were reminded with are artwork just how many years it was since they last won a major trophy.
We all know who the Pride of Manchester have been for the last 30+ years and they don't play in blue.

Looks like City have learned lessons from the "This is our City" poster campaign and put this one up a bit higher!

Seriously what are the MEN trying to do? Talk about inciting trouble - now getting quotes from some City Magazine calling United fans bitter, now that is comedy. What have the champions got to be bitter about after they outclassed city home and away last season and finished 40 points ahead of them. City were 10th!!!!! Now that is laughable

I’m actually proud of the fact that Manchester has two clubs. It makes United’s support seem even bigger. However the council should be directed to the reaction to the Tevez poster on this comments section.

My problem with this poster isn’t due to me being ‘bitter’ as suggested by Wallace in the article.
Most of United's posters advertise DVD's of their successes, otherwise they are posted down at Old Trafford. This one in the city centre is entirely different. It doesn’t advertise anything apart from City’s continued obsession with United. The underlying and obvious message is that we don’t come from Manchester. Telling a Mancunian fan base that far eclipses City’s that it doesn’t come from Manchester is provocative. To me it’s a wind up. It will make me laugh at City’s continued obsession and I will get on with my day. Another man may choose to throw a sponge dipped in red paint at the poster. Another still may decide that violence is his answer.

Whilst banter is common place in football, posters of this style will only serve to increase the likelihood of violence when the two clubs meet next season. How the Council can sanction such a pathetic wind up to be demonstrated on such a large and prominent scale is beyond me. I had hoped that City fans may have better things to comment on following their ‘success’ in building a half decent mid table squad over the summer. However I do not expect Manchester City Council to enter the tired and very one sided argument of who comes from Manchester and who has the most Mancunian based fans by allowing this mockery of United.

Following the very public debacle of encouraging 150,000 Glasgow Rangers fans to drink themselves silly on our streets for three days in May 2008 and subsequent refusal to allow a home coming for Manchester United’s players and their amassed collection of trophies, perhaps it is worth a phone call to Leese to find his viewpoint on this pathetic and continued ploy by City’s marketers. ”This is our City!” was posted all over Manchester just a few years ago. What a joke. I imagine that the million plus fans who celebrated the treble homecoming in 1999 on the streets of the city centre would disagree.

Anything that is going to promote the slightest hint of violence on our streets should be vetoed by the Council. Stick your posters up around your ground or keep them neutral. I would be interested to hear Manchester City council’s viewpoint on inciting football hatred in our city.

Manchester, meanwhile, remains red with a tiny sprinkling of blue, almost like a reversal of the sponge splattered Tevez poster.

Let's hope that cctv captures these vandals and that justice is done. Some might think it is a prank and a bit of football banter but the type of person that has done this would have no qaulms about other kinds of vandalism.

Once arraested it wouldn't surprise me if they find out he/she/they have a string of other offences that they are wanted for.

This kind of act has no place in a civilised society.

The fact is every one is talking about it,even the national press and every one except the very bitters from Owe trafford are laughing. The picture has brought a smile to millions of people up and down the country. For years they have ridiculed city fans with there banner at the swamp and the hiring of air planes to fly over eastlands not to mention the daubining of bridges around the ground and this was when we were dire. Now its pay back time. Being a united fan must be like a man on death row, knowing that its only a matter of time before the executioner will be knocking on the cell door, and of course the excectunior being a city fan.

PJM, maybe manyoo should've gone to Trafford Borough council for permission to have a parade down Washway rd. That is after all, who they pay their council tax to.
