THREE teenagers who 'acted like animals' have been jailed following a violent attack on a family.
They beat a boy of 16 outside a chip shop on Old Road and set upon his parents and brother when they came to his aid last April.
The boy's mum, 43, suffered a broken leg, his father, 41, cuts after he was hit with a bottle and his brother, 18, had facial injuries.
Aaron Agar, 18, of Hallbottom Street, Hyde, was sentenced to 10 months in a young offenders' institute at Manchester Crown Court. Lewis Whittaker, 18, of Harris Drive, Hyde, was given a 12-month community service order and a boy of 17 six months in a young offenders' institute. Det Con Mike Robinson said: "They acted like a pack of animals."

As an ex sapper I have been involved in clearing mines and desposing of bombs, Namibia, the Gulf in 90, Kosovo 94 and quite a few devices left lying around by the IRA too. Its expensive and dangerous to highly skilled troops. Maybe you have a point there, a few chavs and plant pots who think they are hard men sent out into 'no mans' land to clear mines is a winner for all involved. Cheaper than keeping them in 'clink' too!

When is the judiciary going to pass a sentence to fit the crime, time and again idiots and yobs are let off with serious crimes. If people take the law into their own who can blame them..

Build up an economy for Iraq - assist their Country in developing.
And ship some of our scum like these three out there to serve their sentence ther - and a full sentence too - none of this 50% off business.
We have offshored banking jobs, some of the IT and computer industry...why not offshore prison spaces.
No overcrowding, less crime in the UK as prisoners would serve more time, cheaper for the UK taxpayer and Iraq and other such countries gain a business...everyones a winner
