Bret Anthony Charlton

A MAN has been jailed for five years for possessing a shotgun.

Bret Anthony Charlton, 32, of Coalshaw Green Road, Chadderton, was stopped by police when they saw a Vauxhall Astra being driven suspiciously on Fields New Road.

Charlton, a passenger in the car, ran off with a sports bag.

Officers went to his house and found the bag containing a shotgun and ammunition. They also recovered a machete, stab-proof vest, balaclava and cannabis plants.

Charlton was convicted at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court of possessing a firearm and ammunition, and production of cannabis. Det Sgt Ian Webb said: "The items seized suggest he was involved in criminality."

Great to start the day with a giggle. This PC PC talk gets funnier and funnier by the day. I mean come on for god's sake are the police losing the plot now too? Just bloody say it as it is, the scrote was collared fair and square with a deadly weapon and drugs. Me thinks that doesn't merly suggest he was involved in criminality? Unbelievable!

Not a bad sentence though, for a gun, ammo and growing weed. Thought you were supposed to get that just for a knife these days. Oh well, more politcal lies which we are all used to now.
Well im off to smoke a big fat cronic spliff, load up the shotgun and head to parliament!

Mr Charlton needs to work on that pose. How is he going to make it in the male modelling world looking like that? May work in the showers in HMP Strangeways though.

Think the jury must of took one look at the ears and thought ..... GUILTY! Fancy running away fom the police & then going home still in possession of the shotgun! Deserves five years for stupidity!

Hardly a correct sentence , in the US, this would have got him at least 50 years, in Iran Hanged in public, In Russia 30 years hard labour, In China instant death. Which ones right,

The US actually do take a strong line if the firearm is owned illegally and as for the marijuana thing, well......................

Ia that all - by the time he gets out his plants will have matured. The police who stopped this joker could have been seriously injured, fortunately they werent and what has he lost - 2 - 3 years inside. Another disgrace.

In the USA it's the UNLAWFUL posession of a firearm which is punished severely. Most people here can own a gun. This dude would've had the book thrown at him. 20yrs at least.
