BNP leader Nick Griffin has been accused of advocating murder after he said boats carrying migrants from Africa to Europe should be sunk to stop Europe being `swamped by the Third World'.
The newly-elected MEP for north west England said people in sunk boats could then be given life rafts to get back to Africa.
Libya
Nearly 37,000 immigrants, many from Egypt and sub-Saharan Africa, arrived in Italy by sea last year from Libya, which has become a major staging post. Mr Griffin, who has denied the Holocaust and who has a criminal conviction for publishing material likely to incite racial hatred, said he would back the creation of an ocean-going force to block the Mediterranean route. But he added: "The only measure, sooner or later, which is going to stop immigration and stop large numbers of sub-Saharan Africans dying on the way to get over here is to get very tough with those coming over.
'Mad'
"Frankly, they need to sink several of those boats. Anyone coming up with measures like that, we'll support." Manchester Central MP Tony Lloyd said: "My immediate reaction is that this man is mad and most people will find this to be sensationalist nonsense. Murder is a criminal offence, whether committed on the high seas or on land and what he advocates is murder."
Denial
Mr Griffin denied advocating that anyone should be `murdered at sea, saying: "They can throw them a life raft and they can go back to Libya. But Europe has sooner or later to close its borders or its simply going to be swamped by the Third World."
'Appalling'
Former Lord Mayor of Manchester, Coun Afzal Khan said: "This seems appalling to me, disgraceful that an elected politician in the 21st century would say this. It shows the real colours of the BNP. The overwhelming majority of people will be horrified by this, when there are difficulties you do not resort to these sorts of tactics."
Allies
Mr Griffin conceded that the BNP had been unable to find enough extremist allies to create a `group' in the European parliament, where he takes his seat next week.
The decision of Italy's Lega Nord to join the Europe of Freedom and Democracy group led by Britain's UK Independence Party effectively ended efforts to find the necessary 25 MEPs from seven member states.
'Work together'
Mr Griffin said: "No one was prepared to commit themselves knowing that we had not got Lega Nord on board. Even so, we will continue to work together with these other groups and share ideas."

How do you expect anyone (other than your Millwall supporting thickheads) to take you or your party seriously when you come up with claptrap like this?

I fail to understand why this should be a news item, I would be more surprised if he was saying “let all the Third world people in”
This man is the head of a Racist party and so it’s what they believe in.
It’s like the shock people have when some Muslims condone the 9 – 11 bombs, I would be more shocked if they didn’t agree with them.
Just print it in the paper on about page 10 and right at the bottom where no one ever looks.

THE SAME RULES IMPOSED ON ME WHEN I WAS AN IMMIGRANT IN 3 OTHER COUNTRIES.
1) No dole or social security for immigrants until they have live here for 5 years.
2) No access to FREE NHS until you have lived for 2 years and worked for at least 12 months, up until then you pay & play.
3) You pay for your kids schooling until you have gained citizenship then you can have free schooling for children.
4) No social housing until again 5 years.
You make the UK an Economic choice for people to come and live. Just like many many places overseas. The attraction of the UK won't be so nearly as obvious but you leave the door open with conditions. Why do you think the 3rd world want to leave the places they came from to land in Italy, hitch hike their way through europe. France opens the door, shuttles them thru and waves 'au revoir' and let them ferry over to UK. France will accept them but will shove them all in interrogation and immigration centres. Then invite them to leave. The UK is a soft touch. Peoples marriages are breaking up, losing jobs, houses being repossessed and people need help and the last thing people want is to see THEIR money supporting new people from overseas...Perception is reality and the lowest common denominator prevails and hence the appeal of Griffin and Co. Make a few changes to the immigration laws without being a Pol Pot and suddenly the applications to live in the UK will drop. A bit like Australia, happy for you to go an live their but a) must be under 45 b) healthy c) have a degress in a subject or skillset in a career they are short of. Then you can enjoy their way of life. They don't want freeloaders downunder..
I don't hear any one call their immigration policy rascist !
So you adopt like I say 0.1% of the BNP policy absorb it into the Lib Lad Con manifesto and the appeal of UKIP and BNP disappears enough for them to be no longer a viable alternative. This does not breach human rights as anyone who has been ill in the USA will tell you what its like to get free healthcare over there, they begin to giggle, then when you want free prescriptions they bellyache with laughter for 30 minutes. Ask for free housing in Florida and you will get an open mike spot on the comedy channel....

So it is your choice: starving old people or immigration.
Personally, I think Nick Griffin enjoys every inch of this publicity but we will all soon grow bored of him. He's a pantomime figure - not a serious politician or leader.
Sheikhing John, we're ruining football (10/07/2009 at 09:26)
UKIP..put up the barracades and ban every foreigner.
Green Party..immigration ?? recycle plastic bags and save the world.
BNP. put all foreigners in plastic bags and vacuum seal.
By the way, we ARE the EU. and have been since 1974.
it's a big melting pot. and we are part of the stew.
now, give us a cuddle. that's more fun than blaming our problems on those funny speaking people.

And if i remember right the ship had warning shots fired to stop it comming any closer.
So why is it that now the BNP is saying the same thing everyone again is up in arms? I cant find any evidance of the MEN running stories on that incident.
And for those people saying they come here for a better life i surgest you go to these countries and you will find out that the people comming here are not after work just after quick money which the goverment hands out on a silver plate.
I wish the UK would spend money not on immigration but on getting a lot of people back bone transplants so we can start rebuilding the country before there is nothing left.

What nonsense. France takes more immigrants than Britain each year. So does Germany. Facts are often better than just writing stuff. See the UN report on total migrant stock.

Your comments are so right.
I personally don't advocate Mr Griffin's speeches, but he's only saying ...but in a more public manner, what you can hear in most bars when conversation arises about immigration.
Come-On-City. Paris, France. (10/07/2009 at 10:01)
That is true. However it was one of the many extreme conservative views of John Howard that got him voted out of office. Australia has a population shortfall and needs immigrants for the economy and to support an ageing nation.

"the BNP say what the British people are thinking"
They don't talk for me or the majority but they do represent and say what the British people who aren't thinking are thinking.

Yep, check out the "bigoted claptrap" that the man recently voted Our Greatest Ever Briton, use to come out with too.
It was in the The Guardian, so it must be true!

“Shame on MEN for not reporting exactly what he said, and many of you jumping to conclusions.”..
People can only go off the information they are given.
And I don’t know if you are aware but you can only repatriate some if you know the country they have come from and also if the have papers, which is why lots of these people come with no papers at all.
