A BOY of nine was critically ill in hospital today after he was hit by a 4x4 car.

He was on Worsley Road in Swinton when he was in collision with a Toyota Rav4.

Police say he suffered serious head, pelvic and internal injuries. He was taken to Manchester Children's Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver was unhurt. An investigation has been launched into the crash, which happened at 3.40pm yesterday. Anyone with information should call traffic police on 0161 856 7761.
