ANTI-BNP campaigners are warning that the extremist party has focused its resources on the north west in this week's Euro poll after deciding the region represents its best hope of winning a seat.
The party - which wants black and Asian Brits to leave the country - is mobilising all its activists in a bid to get party leader Nick Griffin elected as a Euro MP.
Griffin boasted his far-right party would gain 'at least a dozen' seats in the European Parliament, on the back of the MP expenses scandal.
But the latest polling data shows the vast majority of voters haven't been taken in by the party's extremist views - with only 5pc of support nationally.
It is only in the north west that the party is attracting anywhere near the level of support which could see them win a seat in the European Parliament.
And a memo circulated by party bosses, and seen by the MEN, reveals organisers from other parts of the country are now being told to abandon their local campaigns.
Under the heading 'Last minute activity in target regions', the document calls on all party activists to descend on the north west to help with canvassing ahead of Thursday's poll.
The party had also designated the West Midlands as a target but the MEN understands that the party have now abandoned hope of winning and are now focusing solely on the north west in a bid to secure a seat for their leader.
Because of the European voting system, the party could gain one of the region's eight seats with as little as 8pc of the vote.
However, recent polls have tipped the Green party to `leapfrog' the BNP as the region's fifth-most popular group, reducing the chances of the far-right winning a seat.
A spokesman for Searchlight, which campaigns against extremist parties, said the Euro poll in the north west was "high noon" for the BNP's hopes of making a breakthrough in mainstream politics.

The Greens and UKIP are media puffed up parties. UKIP have been proved to be even more corrupt than the LibLabCon parties!
The MEN has shown itself to be so, so biased I despair for a free press.

Strange that, because many posters on this site have been telling us that they're on the verge of taking over.
So there you have it, 95% of the great British people have got no time for the BNP!

If anything was sightly deemed as unlawful, I am sure that millions of pounds would be spent in attempting a prosecution.
I have posted comments about these BNP stories before. Not because I support them but I believe in balance and not bias.
Hopefully this comment will appear...

But you're only talking about a very small area there. The BNP are a party which relies on the chav vote and I think it's safe to say that the concentration of chavs in the by-election area was probably higher than the average. In the Euro elections, where the whole of the North West is one constituency, I'd be very confident of the BNP getting far fewer votes than UKIP and facing a tough fight against the Greens.

I would urge anyone tempted to vote for this nasty lot to think long and hard before jerking the knee. One visit to their website proves that comparing them to the mainstream political parties is like comparing one of the red-tops to one of the broadsheets.

I note that there is an independent candidate, Francis Apaloo, standing. Yet the search facility on this website provides no results. Anyone know who he is??

To those of you supporting them on here, you make me ashamed to share a nationality with you. Just be honest and admit your racism, rather than try and kid yourself that what you think is somehow a political stance.

It does seem the BNP make things up just con members out of money, but more importantly to create a siege mentality, which they could use to shut down searchlight, " the British broadcasting media", and anybody else they consider amongst the "Marxist conspiracy" IF they get the chance.
All it takes for fascism to succeed, is for good people to remain quiet.
SHORT SNIPPET
Griffin's email appeal claims that the assault came from "eastern Europe and Russia" and that Clear Channel, a firm supplying Euro election billboard advertising services to the BNP, is also under attack and contemplating legal action.
However, Clear Channel, after checking with its US-based techies, said that it was not under any kind of cyber-attack, much less on the phone to its lawyers.
"To confirm - we have had no attack and we have filed no lawsuits," a spokeswoman told El Reg. "The BNP booked a small poster campaign in the run up to the European Elections."

The Greens reject as false the choice between ‘economy' or the ‘environment' - both can be achieved together. Even Obama agrees with this--though it remains to be seen if he delivers.
The Green European Election manifesto sets out a plan for creating 1 million jobs through investment in renewable energy, housing, public transport and social care.
The Greens call this the GREEN NEW DEAL - an approach to the economy that puts Britain firmly on the road to recovery, addresses the urgent climate crisis, while improving the way we all lead our lives.
This is how the Green New Deal proposes to tackle the most pressing problems we face today:
- A new architecture for the financial system so that it serves the ‘real' economy and a MASSIVE CLAMPDOWN ON TAX AVOIDANCE by the big employers and the multinationals to generate £10 billion in revenue.
- Energy efficiency measures for UK homes, schools and hospitals to create 80,000 jobs, reduce harmful emissions and cut fuel bills. Insulate the nation's homes and buildings to minimise needless wastage of energy.
- Free social care for the elderly to improve quality of life and create 60,000 jobs. Bring back the home helps (remember them?) for pensioners to help them maintain their homes and provide a bit of company once a week.
- Massive increase in the proportion of electricity that comes from renewable sources - raising wind energy production to the same level as Denmark by 2020 would alone create 200,000 jobs.
A plan for tackling rising unemployment and the threat of climate change.
The message this election is clear - it is not necessary to choose between jobs and the environment - the Greens offer the best of both worlds.
Fozz (02/06/2009 at 17:06)
We don't want a bunch of crackpot ethnic cleaners running Europe.
The Green Party's idea of a GREEN NEW DEAL is a much better idea to generate jobs insulating everyone's homes, building up solar panels and and wind power and a massive clampdown on tax avoidance by the wealthy. Shut down tax havens and make the rich pay their fair whack of taxes. Bring back the home helps for pensioners.
The Greens are best placed, statistically, to give the mainstream parties a kick up the backside for the expenses scandal AND put the BNP back in its cage.
BNP = Bin Nazi Propaganda
