Griffin - whose party wants to create 'firm incentives' for non-white Britons to leave their homeland - dismissed claims that the policy would strip the country of talent.
Referring to Khan, he added: "Perhaps we will lose one good boxer but there are more important things."
Khan - who has spoken out against Islamic extremism and walked out behind the Union Flag for his professional debut - was born and raised in Bolton.
His cousin, Saj Mahmood, plays cricket for Lancashire and England.
The 22-year-old boxer once said: "I've always felt completely British. I loved making the British people happy in Athens [where he won Olympic silver], and I still do.
"Those of us from different ethnic backgrounds, like Lewis Hamilton and myself, are carrying the flag for Britain by doing our thing, being ourselves and wanting to become world champions."
His dad, Shah Khan, said: "At the end of the day I think everyone should be treated equally - regardless of the colour of their skin."
The BNP is targeting the north west of England as it seeks to win a seat in the European elections next month.
Griffin - who was convicted in 1998 of distributing material likely to incite racial hatred - is the party's top candidate in our region.

During his trial he dismissed the Holocaust as 'Allied wartime propaganda' - a view he claims to have recanted.
In a broadcast put on the BNP's website this week, Griffin told supporters he had 'no problem' breaking race laws.
"We don't break the law," he said. "We never have, we never will, on financial things.
"Don't mind breaking the odd race law, or being accused of it, you know, inadvertently."
The BNP's policies would not just see 'one good boxer' pushed out of the country.
Football stars such as Rio Ferdinand and Shaun Wright-Phillips would also be 'encouraged' to leave - along with thousands of successful Black and Asian Britons from all walks of life.
Labour MP Frank Field and Conservative Nicholas Soames have teamed up to encourage the mainstream parties to tackle legitimate concerns about immigration.
Nicholas Soames
People are deeply and justifiably concerned about how immigration is changing our country
The two men are spearheading a campaign for a 'balanced' policy. That would mean the total number of people allowed to settle in the country would be brought into line with the numbers leaving.
In a letter to the MEN, the MPs said: "Our concern is that the issue that is bothering many people right across the country, and especially in England, is immigration - and the beneficiaries will be the BNP.
"On immigration, there is now a dangerous political vacuum. Terrified of being accused as 'racists', politicians from the main political parties have shied away from talking honestly about what is happening to our country. And so enters, stage right, the loathsome BNP, hissing hate.
"People are deeply and justifiably concerned about how immigration is changing our country.
"Does this mean that immigration is a bad thing? Of course not. For centuries immigrants, arriving in small numbers, have made a disproportionate contribution to our society, and many thousands continue to do so.
"But making the case for immigration becomes much harder as immigration on today's enormous scale puts increasing pressure on our public services and - more worryingly - on our society.
"The time has come for the main party leaders to wake up to this challenge, and say how they will stop our population hitting 70 million and even 80 million in mid century.
"The British public are deeply concerned about the impact of uncontrolled immigration: millions of people live with the consequences every day.
"Many are anxious, fearful and ready to send a signal in June's elections. Silence from Messrs Brown, Cameron and Clegg is not an option - simply a recruiting sergeant for the BNP."

One other point, after reading the MENs articles about the BNP this week i was listening to some people in my local yesterday openly advocating BNP policies and how 'all these foreigners should go back 'home' (or words to that effect) and why should we pay to keep the lazy ++++++ here, there only here to bum off the system', these very same people are in there early forties don't work (and havent for as long as i can remember), know more fiddles than Stravinsky and churn kids out like the old woman in the shoe, but are happy to sup cheap booze from morning till night while putting nowt back into our country, i asked one what was the difference between him and one of these 'foreigners' bumming off the state, 'i'm British, its my country' was the reply!

If however, the BNP are just actively seeking restraints on the open door policy this coutry adopts to immigration then they will have huge support.
Amir Khan, Shaun Wright Phillips & Lewis Hamilton are all British/English and proud to be so and should be accepted as such. Just where does the BNP suggest they go to?
Every paper I open, every web page I read suggests that the BNP is a white only party, however the BNP Membership application form does not ask for your race, colour or creed, or even if you are a British Citizen, it just asks for your name & address and some contact details. So how can it be critised as a "white-only" party - do any of the papers have evidence as to applications being rejected on the grounds of colour? If so please publish this as currently the media is just showing itself to being anti-BNP without just cause.

why didnt our own government tackle the problems with immigration sooner?
if they had we would have this lot growing in strength!

Now, the majority of these people keep these kind of comments to themselves and close circle because they think it is not acceptable to voice them. All the MEN constant 'exposeure' of BNP policy is doing is illustrating that these views are valid - that there is actually a party for people who think like that. In other words you are doing them a favour not a diservice.
I am also intersted to know why the MEN is so keen to be in anti-fascist vanguard.

all these stories. THE TRUTH about the BNP, just highights their policies which a lot of people will read and agree with.
you are not turning people away from the BNP, you are turning people towards them.
they read their policies in detail and believe that they have a party which promotes their view of the world. a very small insular world, but one which exists along-side the open world view of other people.
you would make better progress by writing about the other ways of living, views that contradicts the BNP without having screaming headlines advertising the BNPs views.
the fight can never be won. but it can marginise the minority who have big mouths. Rock against racism, Strangeways carpark 1977.

It's a nice theory, but it wouldn't guarantee zero net migration unless you could guarantee that the people leaving the UK never came back. The only way you could do that would be to strip anybody leaving the country of their citizenship and I don't see that being a realistic option.

The occupying Nazis used the details from occupied nations' national identity card schemes to round up people who never knew or realised that they had distant Jewish ancestry. Our control-freak New Labour government is making the same mistake with its ID cards, they will hand over all the details an incoming extremist administration needs to eliminate their dislikes on a plate.

My vote was decided like this: - Did labour try to shaft manchester with a £2k per person per year extra tax just to go to work, A=Yes. Therefore my vote was never going to them. Then with all the anti BNP stuff I felt obliged to vote for them to quite simply show that a newspaper can not dictate to me how I vote.

This week the M.E.N have condemned the BNP for wanting to bring about 'an overwhelmingly white Britain' yet check out demographic trends; a quarter of all UK births are now to women born outside of the UK coupled with a culturally high muslim birthrate, and we are heading for an overwhelmingly non-white Britain by the second half of this century. So, what the political elite (that includes the media commentators) want us to accept -and they are using scurrilous methods to bring this about - is this; overwhelmingly white Britain =BAD, overwhelmingly non-white Britain =GOOD. And they lecture us about 'racism'. If you object to this (even though no political party has ever openly campaigned to allow mass immigration) then they assert (quite hysterically) tha you are a 'fascist' 'Hitlerite' etc!!
I don't hate anybody - let alone on the basis of their ethnicity - but 'Britain for the British' or else we become Britain in name only. That's not hatred, that is patriotism.

The economic crisis created by Thatcher, Blair and Brown, the climate of contrived fear and Islamophobia created by New Labour's bogus "war on terror" and the current political crisis caused by the MPs' expenses scandal means that the BNP could benefit from a protest vote. A low turn out might also benefit this neo-Nazi outfit masquerading as a normal, "respectable" party. Griffin thinks that by using "clever", opportunist, used car sales talk he can con his way into power.
Everyone is urged to use their vote wisely. The Green Party has the best chance, statistically, of stopping the BNP.
Fascism always leads to war and attacks on minorities. It is time to alert people to this danger.
if all immigrants, and the British born offspring of immigrants, left Britain tomorrow, there would be millions of white British people crying into their beer because they would no longer be able to experience their equisite cuisines which we currently take for granted. We would also lose the vibrant music and culture that immigrants bring with them.
And if every other county in the world followed suit and kicked out British expats, it would cause an incredible amount of upheaval and misery.
The BNP (and UKIP) are bonkers.
Vote Green!
Stacey Harriet (29/05/2009 at 11:39)
This is what makes the BNP popular! Instead of the constant anti-BNP properganda, how about another party actually takes a stand against continuing mass-immigration?
It's not racist to be against mass-immigration into your area!
red one (29/05/2009 at 11:50)
We were told that immigration was good because workers from abroad would take the jobs the Brits would not do. If the benefits system was not so work shy friendly it would make people fill these jobs.
We are allowing immigrants into a Country which is on the verge of mass unemployment, whilst companies like Hewlett Packard and call centres of major employers are sending jobs abroad. Where is the logic! Immigrants in and jobs out. The result a massive drain on unemployment benefit and more civil servants required to deal with the unemployed? The only party willing to tackle the problem sounds like the BNP and should they become successful it is the fault of the other parties who are afraid to mention immigration for the fear of being branded racist. It nothing to do with being racist just common sense.
dessie, manchester (29/05/2009 at 12:26)
i think you are spot on, millions dont hate those people, we want a control to help people in this country get work, we should look after our own first then other after.
barca99, Salford (29/05/2009 at 12:37)
There is a major difference to being patriotic and rascist.
Where is the BNP stance on somebody of pure British ancestry who has married a non White - British person and they have children? Do the kids and one of the parents leave? If both parents leave what if the White/British parent is refused entry to the other parents country?
What a load of cobblers this lot are and the likes of 'Voter' if you believe the BNP are wanting to 'cut down' on immigration then you have been misguided, there will be no 'cutting down', this shower would be more interested in a genocidal war rather than reduction, in Manchester alone go back in your family history and i'll guarentee if your Catholic you'll have some non-British blood, there'll be nobody safe.
P.S. What about Prince Phillip? He's Greek isnt he? So thats Charles, Anne, Edward & Andrew out plus offspring, just get one of your henchman to give the Queen a reminder over the cucumber sarnies at the garden party they've been invited too.
54 & a Blue , Ramsbottom (29/05/2009 at 13:01)
But I must point out that this is an island, in June 2008 the ONS revealed that 6.3 million people living in this country were not born here and that is more than we can cope with.
The health service cannot cope, and I know the old argument that if the non-uk health service staff left the UK then we would struggle to staff the NHS, but we cannot keep funding non-Uk citizens who have paid nothing in to the system.
The benefits system cannot cope, we need to look at ways of ensuring that we stop treating people coming in to free housing, dental, medical etc when we cannot provide that for our own.
The prisons population has thousands of non-UK citizens incarcarated, at what cost to the UK taxpayer.
These are just some of the issues that teh Tories and Labour have to address very quickly if the dont want to see the BNP making gains at the polls.

Black Flag (29/05/2009 at 13:16)
You're only looking at one side of the equation. What about the millions who were born here but have moved elsewhere?
It's all very well saying that we could reduce the population by forcing out people who weren't born here, but if other countries took the same approach, we could end up with a larger population than we had in the first place.

The BNP Constitution states:
"SECTION 2: MEMBERSHIP
1) The British National Party represents the collective National, Environmental, Political,
Racial, Folkish, Social, Cultural, Religious and Economic interests of the indigenous
Anglo-Saxon, Celtic and Norse folk communities of Britain and those we regard as
closely related and ethnically assimilated or assimilable aboriginal members of the
European race also resident in Britain. Membership of the BNP is strictly defined
within the terms of, and our members also self define themselves within, the legal
ambit of a defined ‘racial group’ this being ‘Indigenous Caucasian’ and defined ‘ethnic
groups’ emanating from that Race as specified in law in the House of Lords case of
Mandla V Dowell Lee (1983) 1 ALL ER 1062, HL.
2) The indigenous British ethnic groups deriving from the class of ‘Indigenous
Caucasian’ consist of members of: i) The Anglo-Saxon Folk Community; ii) The Celtic
Scottish Folk Community; iii) The Scots-Northern Irish Folk Community; iv) The
Celtic Welsh Folk Community; v) The Celtic Irish Folk Community; vi) The Celtic
Cornish Folk Community; vii) The Anglo-Saxon-Celtic Folk Community; viii) The
Celtic-Norse Folk Community; ix) The Anglo-Saxon-Norse Folk Community; x) The
Anglo-Saxon-Indigenous European Folk Community; xi) Members of these ethnic
groups who reside either within or outside Europe but ethnically derive from them.
3) Membership of the party shall be open only to those who are 16 years of age or over
and whose ethnic origin is listed within Sub-section 2.
It is clear from this that the BNP does operate a "white only" membership policy. And this is quite obviously racist.
Don't be taken in my Griffin's sales talk. He is a slippery, opportunist who calibrates what he says according to the audience he is addressing. Beneath the soft-sell sales talk there is a history of full blooded neo-Nazi thuggery. Don't forget that he was a former leader of the openly neo-Nazi National Front.
Have a look at the videos of "NaziDefectedToUAF" on YouTube--an ex neo-Nazi who defected to the anti-fascist organisation Unite Against Fascism. One of the videos, entitled "Britain's Nazi Perverts" shows a speech by Griffin saying to his fascist audience that he is not selling out his neo-Nazi politics, but that he intends to "sell" these ideas in the form of spin and sales talk. That is, he aims to con the electorate--sailing as close to the wind as he can in terms of racism and immigration policies--in order to get elected."

Firstly, it discounts the fact that people emigrate (as well immigrate) from Britain every year. Thousands of eastern Europeans have gone back home voluntarily in the past year as a result of the recession because jobs are hard to find. The idea that migrants need to be "encouraged" (BNP/UKIP code for forced) to leave is baloney. Migration happens naturally according to the ups and downs of the economy.
Secondly, immigrants, and the British-born offspring of immigrants, work and PAY TAXES to fund public services like everyone else (oh yes they do). There are benefits spongers in ALL communities (including whites--oh yes there are). But there are also MILLIONS of pounds in unclaimed benefits by people who are not aware of their right to claim them--as any any welfare rights worker will tell you. But the sums of money lost to benefit fraud pale into insignificance in comparison to the money lost to taxation by the big business tax avoidance/evasion industry. The big employers and multinational firms can afford to hire accountants to do exactly that. See the recent Guardian series on this very subject at its website. Companies use tax exiles like the Channel islands and the Cayman Islands (most of which are British colonial dependences) to avoid paying billions--and these are overwhelmingly WHITE upper class rich British people who are the culprits. These tax exiles could be closed in a jiffy if the government was minded to do it. And then there are MPs expenses.....and they are overwhelmingly WHITE.
Thirdly, the NHS, and many other public services, are substantially staffed by immigrant and British born black and Asian nurses, doctors, paramedics, radiographers etc. The NHS would collapse without them and THEY PAY TAXES AND NATIONAL INSURANCE TOO which goes to fund public services.
So, enough of the BNP Dr Goebbels BIG LIE about immigrants putting a strain on services.
