As reported in the M.E.N. yesterday, a gaping hole opened up in the middle of busy Barlow Moor Road in Didsbury.
Passers-by ran into the road to warn drivers when the crater measuring 8ft by 6ft and at least 6ft deep opened up.
No one was injured and there was no serious damage to vehicles.
Engineers say a collapsed drain caused the problem.
Footage filmed from an office window by Graeme Barry shows the moment the road collapsed.
Graeme, 25, and colleagues at Envantage energy consultants looked out of the window when they heard bangs as cars grounded out on a step forming in the road.
"I had gone back to my seat and then my boss said: 'There's a hole now' so I went into another office and started filming. It dropped through as I was recording."
Barlow Moor Road will remain closed between Wilmslow Road and Palatine Road until repairs are complete. Diversions are in place between Palatine Road, Lapwing Lane and Wilmslow Road.

The bloke on the video made me laugh, the road collapsed and he walks to the edge of the crator followed by another, what if the hole hadn't finished developing

Didsbury use to be nice and in the day time is not bad but at night thugs from Wythenshawe come in and there are always fights. Burglary has been and is still on the up there. Overall what was once a nice nighbourhood is ruined. Good restaurants like Jem and I, Lime Tree etc but you have to fight your way throuh the thugs on the way home.
