Thugs attack dog walker

POLICE are hunting a gang of `mindless thugs' who beat up a man after he asked them to stop teasing his pet dog.

Three men launched a savage attack on the victim, 59, first knocking him to the floor and then kicking him in the head in Heaton Park as two other men watched and cheered.

The man was attacked after he had tried to stop the men teasing his dog on Wednesday afternoon. The thugs walked off towards Heaton Park Metrolink station.

Their victim suffered facial bruising and a cut to the head that needed five stitches in hospital.

Det Insp Richard Eales said: "This was a frightening level of violence against this man while he was trying to protect his family pet from yobbish behaviour.

"This really was mindless thuggery at its worst."

Hmm, I'd like to see these cowardly thugs try to attack somebody with a large GSD or Rottweiler. But anyway, if caught they'll probably get a police caution or at most a suspended sentence. It's hardly worth bothering to catch criminals these these days.

This is disgusting the poor man just trying to protect his dog, maybe he should of left them to tease the dog and let the dog attack one of them.

Like the previous comment I would liked to of seen them try it with a dog like a Bullmastiff.

Men?A man would not take part in an attack such as this nor would a man stand by and cheer them on.

It's only a violent crime against an innocent 59 year old, if it was a crime against the state, well then things would be a little different.
