A PASSING motorist turned hero to save an innocent teenager who was being stabbed and kicked by a gang of vigilantes.
Thomas Delaney stopped his van and ran to the rescue of the 17-year-old youth being attacked as he lay defenceless on the ground.
Mr Delaney, who knew the thugs, kicked knifeman Richard Hill so hard he smashed his jaw and punched Daniel Livesley with such force that he split open his nose. His actions saved Christopher Pourabolghassiam from more serious injury, although he still suffered a potentiallly life-threatening stab wound during the incident on Manchester Road, Mossley.
At Manchester Crown Court, one of the city's top judges paid a personal tribute to Mr Delaney for his `brave and timely intervention'.
Judge Clement Goldstone also urged the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester, Peter Fahy, to reward Mr Delaney for his bravery. He said: "He saw what was happening and took the trouble to stop in order to go to the victim's aid."
The judge told Hill and Livesley the injuries they suffered at the hands of Mr Delaney were `quite frankly no more than each of you deserved'.
The judge then jailed 22-year-old Hill, of Old Brow, Mossley, for seven years.
Hill had admitted wounding Mr Pourabolghassiam, who was stabbed in the chest and arm as he tried to defend himself.
Livesley, 19, of Carter Street, Mossley, admitted causing grievous bodily harm, but because he has spent the equivalent of a 13-month jail term on remand, he was given a community order.
Both of the men were involved with others in a mistaken revenge attack when the victim and a friend were `hopelessly outnumbered' by a five-strong posse recruited by Hill.

Mr Delaney is a rarity these days when most people look the other way and I fear that can only get worse. To get out and take on a gang is above and beyond what any of us could hope for if we were the victim.

While I understand that a straight person would not want to lose their freedom etc and just to be in jail with these scumbags would be a nightmare but the mentality of these people actually think that it earns them respect and they laugh at people for working in normal jobs.
I never used to think the way I do now but I would like to see capital punishment used on the type of people I come across that I have described.

I am not convinced what you describe has ever happened, could you present some actual cases where it has?

Tony Martin, the Norfolk farmer who shot a teenage boy in the back as he tried to burgle his isolated farmhouse, was yesterday found guilty of murder and sent to prison for life at the end of a case that touched a raw nerve across rural Britain
Ring any bells chaps.

Thugs get instant justice
They obviously are no use to society so why not lock them up for good.
All they'll do when they come out is the same again
Leopards never change their spots
Well done Thomas Delaney

Governments do the same on the international scene when all else fails, and regard extreme violence as legitimate. N'est ce pas?

The stinking kipper, pinned under the table (20/04/2009 at 10:37)
These creatures do not contribute anything and never will. They merely take whatever they can get and behave in a way that is abhorent to the real humans.
Well done to the hero of the story!!
