A MAJOR search for a missing camper involving an RAF rescue helicopter and Coastguards ended when he was found asleep under a caravan - just 300 metres from his tent.
The 20-year-old man from Manchester had been holidaying with friends in Anglesey.
They raised the alarm in the early hours yesterday after he vanished from his tent at the Penrhyn camp site.
He had earlier been put to bed by friends.
An RAF rescue helicopter from Valley in Anglesey, police, inshore lifeboat, Coastguards and search dogs searched for three-and-a-half hours for the missing man.
He was eventually found shortly before 8am by a search dog - asleep under a caravan 300 metres away from where he had been left by his pals. Coastguards said that he had been drinking.
A friend said: "He's had a bad day and he just wants to forget about it."
A North Wales Police spokesman said the man had been found `safe and well'.
Search teams were called to the 32-acre camp site, overlooking Holyhead Bay and the Skerries Lighthouse, by staff shortly after 4am.

Costs would have been a drop in the ocean against those of other alcohol induced incidents for that period across the UK.
