Colin Joyce

A GANG boss who is facing life in jail after being convicted of the murder of two men has claimed he was innocent and blamed 'hysterical media' coverage for his demise.

Colin Joyce, 29, who was found guilty of the murder of Ucal Chin, murder of Tyrone Gilbert, attempted murder of Michael Gordon and conspiracy to possess firearms with intent to endanger life, launched into the tirade against the media as he gave mitigation ahead of sentencing at Liverpool Crown Court.

He also said nothing could ever take away his freedom.

Joyce, who is believed to have been the most senior member of the Gooch gang, along with right-hand man Lee Amos, denied the pair were at the top of the gang hierarchy.

Both men and nine other gang members were convicted of a string of charges and were awaiting sentencing.

Joyce said: "It is drunken hysterical media coverage. It is a circus and is not going to make any difference.

"I have no doubt from the outset of this case you have made up your mind but it is not going to take away the freedom I have within me or the innocence I have got."

Mr Joyce. Simple Maths is what is needed here. 29 years old plus 39 years jail time equals 68 years old when you get out. Now, tell me, once you win your freedom, what will you do the first week you're out? Clubbing? Or will you do what an average 68 year old does? Think about it mate. Life for you is over. A bit of hindsight may have warned you what path your life was taking.

Do you think we might see another odd set up of things in years to come, if he dies in prison. Remember the tears and 'Jade style' circus at Reggie Kray's funeral on 29 March 1995 - which was a huge event with people lining the streets...not with flowers, used lottery tickets and cold chips, but with almost a sincere silence.

its a nice change to see the "SCUM"getting what they deserve,and a judge whos prepared to stand up and be counted..Us law abiding citizens dont want this scum on the streets and all his supporters i would suggest need to venture somewhere else.......or do they want a substantial sentence tooo???????

How sad you all are attacking people for their opinions ... right or wrong ... innocent or guilty, we are not the police, judge or jury so lets leave our comments and leave it alone ... you ashould know that criminality is a set of behaviours which include trying to belittle people. If you want to show yourselves as good citizens ... do not judge for at the end of the day im sure you were all on here saying that tyrone and his mates were scum when they went into the manchester royal infirmary with guns ... i think people must be very bored to sit here calling people they dont know and acting as though they are jury members and judges wanting to proclaim guilt and dish out sentences ... dont be too quick to judge and belittle other it makes you come accross as very low level

Happy to jog on by, have little time for this. If you folk carry on jumping into/out of the frying pan, that's your choice/option.
I choose to opt out. Once again, our kids come first. If you don't follow that, then you don't count. The kids come first.
