Raiders attack blind pensioner

COWARDLY raiders attacked a blind pensioner in his own home, then ransacked the house looking for valuables to steal.

The pair burst into the 82-year old victim's flat on Lancaster Road, Salford, then one forced the pension's arm up his back, while the other searched the propertly.

They fled with cash.

Detective Constable Horace Bell, of Swinton police, said: "This was a cowardly attack on a man who is frail. Fortunately he has not been injured, but he's certainly been left feeling shaken and upset.

"Because the victim is blind, he has not been able to provide us with a description of the offenders, so we are appealing to anybody who may have seen any part of this robbery to call us."

State of the nation!Why aren`t the police invited to local schools to discuss the morality of this crime with the kids.Someone has to try to educate kids about right and wrong as the parents can`t be bothered.Someone PLEASE do something to stop this decline.

We need those old fashioned barbaric punishment the looney lefty keeps telling us dosnt work? THE BIRCH. It seemed to slow down problems years ago in britain and the isle of man. since both britain and the isle of man gave it up for the sake of "PC" things have gone downhill very fast.

Absolute disgrace, brummyview 14:51 has the option for the long term answer, however the immediate answer is to introduce the toughest sentences this country has ever seen. Iam sure the scum responsible for this outrage arnt 1st time offenders & should of been locked up for previous crimes anyway. You carnt rob the blind & elderly from a prison cell.

Well put Ace, why not bring back the stocks, pelt hem with stones, as this would be better than wasting fruit and veg, better still chop their hands off this sort of scum then we can avoid them as we will know who they are.

Cost effective,quick,prison overpopulation solved,satisfaction for the victims and stigmatisation for the offenders.Obviously,a medical would be needed before punishment,don't want to kill the scum,do we? All boxes ticked and I am sure that there would be no shortage of volunteers to administer the birching,they could even have the victims doing it! Does any of our regulars disagree with this and if so,why? Come on,Ace and I would be enthralled to know!

I'm afraid you're wrong. Ace wants an excuse, any excuse, to see legal sanctioned violence. He'd hate to live in a world where everybody was decent and civilised; he'd be completely marginalised.

As usual, you falsely portray somebody else's position to try to strengthen your own silly Stalinist arguments. I've said on numerous occasions that this kind of crime warrants a lengthy prison sentence, but you ignore that because it does fit in with the argument you want to make.

I think that the people who committed this crime and people like you have no place in a civilised society.

Not to worry the police now have smart cars with cameras and will soon be catching this scum, oops!! I have it wrong again they will be catching motorists eating a sandwich or on the phone. So sorry to those who suffer violent crimes the police are too busy to help you as they are preoccupied with dealing with easy crime as it raises more money.
I hope this Gentleman is soon feeling better and the scum that did get their just deserts one way or another.

A lovely world we live in isn't it? ACE of course, is spot on as usual. These people need catching and humiliating. Public birching worked because it did just that - it humiliated the little tough guys.

Drive down any road now (walking is too risky) and you'll see hundreds of yobs, all in a hood or a baseball cap, all dressed the same, all emulating their hero - the gang leader. Placing these little idiots on a platform in Piccadilly on a saturday afternoon whilst they had their track suit bottoms (they don't wear trousers like real men) pulled down and their behinds given a good pummelling until they cried would sens a strong message.
