A REUNION by Madchester legends The Stone Roses has been ruled out.
There were claims that the four-piece would reform for a 21-date British tour this summer.
But sources close to frontman Ian Brown quashed the rumours which surfaced yesterday.
Solo career
His booking agent said they were `absolutely not true', while his record company said he was continuing to concentrate on his solo career.
The band's bassist, Mani - who joined Primal Scream after the Roses split acrimoniously in 1996 - hinted last year that a reunion was likely.
Reluctant
Former drummer Reni and guitarist John Squire were said to be on board but a reluctant Brown was cited as a sticking point.
Sources close to the band reignited rumours, suggesting all four former members had agreed to a string of gigs to coincide with the 20th anniversary of their celebrated debut album.
A new, deluxe edition has been re-mastered by original producer John Leckie for release this year. Squire, whose artwork adorned the band's album and single covers, is due to exhibit his paintings in Oldham and Austria later in the year. Mani, who is touring in the US, could not be reached.
