A RAPIST who threatened to kill his victim has been jailed indefinitely.

Daniel Ellis, 20, from Wigan, knocked on the door of a woman in the early hours of the morning and pushed his way into the house.

He then grabbed the woman's throat and forced himself on her, threatening to strangle her if she resisted.

Ellis, of Severn Road, was given an indeterminate sentence after admitting rape. A judge at Liverpool Crown Court ordered he serve a minimum three years and four months, although he will remain behind bars until he is no longer judged a threat.

The attack happened in October last year. The victim contacted police immediately afterwards and Ellis was arrested close to the scene. Det Con Jackie Hulme said: "Ellis used violence, threatened to kill her and put her through a truly terrifying experience.

"I hope his victim finds some comfort that he now faces a long time behind bars for the distress and trauma Ellis put her through."
