SCHOOLGIRL Stacey Field made her classmates green with envy when she bagged a personal photo of Prince Andrew on her mobile phone.

The 11-year-old seized her chance as Andrew arrived in Cheetham Hill to open the most environmentally-friendly store in Britain.

Smile

She jumped out in front of him as he walked down one of the shopping aisles, and quick as a flash, asked him to smile for the camera.

Unfazed, the royal visitor grinned broadly and suggested that she took a few steps backwards to get a better shot, then laughingly told her `That's enough' as she went on to snap more pictures.

'Great'

Stacey, from Cheetham Hill, said: "He was great. I had heard he was in the store, so just decided I was going to get his picture."

Andrew, who went on to unveil a commemorative plaque to mark his visit to Tesco's £20m flagship store, spent time chatting to staff, some of whom had been recruited as part of a special programme to get long-term unemployed people back into work.

Opportunity

Derek Brown, 38, from Harpurhey, had been unemployed for 18 years before taking up the opportunity offered by the supermarket chain.

He told Andrew he had spent three years doing voluntary work because he had been unable to find paid employment, and summed up the Tesco scheme in one word: "Brilliant."
