A climate change activist threw a cup of green “slime” over Business Secretary Lord Mandelson today as he arrived at the launch of the Government's low carbon economy summit.
Leila Deen from campaign group Plane Stupid said she was protesting at reports that Lord Mandelson met lobbyists from Heathrow owner BAA before the Government gave the controversial go-ahead for a third runway at the London airport.
The incident happened a few seconds after Lord Mandelson got out of his ministerial car to attend the summit in central London.
Ms Deen, 29, threw a cup full of what she described as “green slime” over the minister, who tried to duck when he realised what was happening.
Ms Deen, who calmly walked away after the incident, said: “The only thing green about Peter Mandelson is the slime coursing through his veins.”
Lord Mandelson dismissed the incident, which raises questions about his personal security, as an “adolescent protest”.
He told Sky News: “She was so busy throwing what seemed like green soup or something in my face that she failed to tell me what the protest was about but, as you can see, thankfully it wasn't paint and I've come through it intact.”

Mandelson is the shadiest, most patronising, snobbish, dubious person in British politics right now. Well done Palne Stupid!

As for Mandelson how arrogant was he afterwards? 'she was so busy throwing this at me that she didn't explain why she was doing it. Pathetic and juvenile'.

I remember a protestor from father4 Justice throwing an egg as a minister and was arrested, kept locked up for 24 hours, charged and taken to caught.
What is the difference?
Plane stupid are getting themselves know by doing stupid things but is it working like the F4J group where it has failed on numerous points with the government, I think you are on a losing battle.

What if the boot, or slime in this case, was on the other foot? She would be suing everyone in sight and selling her story to the media.

Where were the police? The green substance could have been anything.
She should be arrested & charged with whatever is appropriate.

Whatever you think of Brown & Mandelson I thought they took it well and in the end I thought the protest counter productive. What was unpleasant about the fathers4justice protest was that they attacked a woman minister - Margaret Hodge - and that certainly did their cause no good.
But it did have its funny slapstick side which Brown seemed to enjoy and the woman involved didn't get the same treatment as the guy who throw his shoes at Bush in Baghdad - something to be glad about.

Sorry I thought the Government was the Government of the UK and not just plain and simple London.
Get her arrested and charged with a section 4, it does need a complainant as it was seen on TV, press pictures, look at the one on the front page of this paper, there is enough evidence.
Plane and Simple are doing what other groups have done, but are getting no where either, the government will not listen if you take the mickey out of them.
Miss Dean, equality works both ways, you have mistreated someone, and I hope whether him and brown have ruin the country according to some posters that you do get arrested and charged for something and if it is even just getting a dry cleaning bill.
