Shop raider caught on CCTV

DETECTIVES have released footage of an armed robber who held up a shop wearing a novelty police hat.

The man, who was also wearing sunglasses, threatened staff with a hammer at the Co-op shop on Marple Road, Brooklands, shortly before 8am on August 24 last year.

He demanded cash and cigarettes. No one was hurt in the robbery.

The offender escaped with another man in a waiting Volvo, which was later found abandoned.

Detective Constable April Hopwood said: "Although this robbery happened some time ago, I am hopeful someone will recognise the offender, who was dressed very distinctively. "Robberies such as this put staff in genuine fear and won't be tolerated. "I would therefore appeal to anyone with information to call me."

These kids can't even hold a hammer the right way round. They deserve whatever punishment they get, but I suspect getting them to 'think' would be torturous enough punishment and if we could get them to 'think' and perhaps use the brain cells that has allowed mankind to become the the superior species, then maybe we could drag them out of the pit of their own depraved thinking. There is so little intellectually between us and the The Gorilla, that perhaps we should, as a society, help those who behave more like our close relative cousin and assist them in achieving homo sapien status. Intensive intellectual transformation techniques and mind altering therapy seems to be certainly possible in modern society, but perhaps a little to tough in our 'human rights' environment. History will ultimately comment on our downfall, as it has done on the much more successful Romans and Ancient Greeks.

Why is there never an armed copper around the corner when this happens? A little 9 millimetre justice once in a while may make these scumbags think twice before robbing someone's livelihood..

Why on earth does it take from August to February to release this video? Equally, how does D C April Hopwood expect any potential witness to remember detail from six months ago ("some time ago!") to hold up for a prosecution case ?
