IT was back to basics for Vivienne Westwood, as the grand dame of British fashion returned to her roots at London Fashion Week.
The Glossop-born former school teacher - who has stores in Manchester's King Street and Bridge Street and The Trafford Centre - unveiled her Red Label designs of figure-enhancing tailoring with classic Westwood-style asymetric lines, bright colours, bold stripes and tartans.
The new collection also featured nods to many of the 67-year-old's classic designs in a career which has spanned 38 years from her early association with the Sex Pistols.
Dame Westwood said the collection was based on an English schoolgirl look and inspired by her 11-year old granddaughter Cora Corre.
Westwood's friend and former model Jo Wood - who split with her Rolling Stones husband Ronnie Wood after 23 years last summer - took to the catwalk in the role of headmistress.
She was centre stage in front of a star-studded audience including rapper, Kanye West, Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts, actor and comedian David Walliams.
Jo said: "If Vivienne wanted me, there was a reason maybe. She wanted an older, more mature woman in the show. I'm representing the mature woman."
Daisy Lowe, Alice Dellal and Jourdan Dunn were among the models who showed off figure-hugging corsets and draped dresses.
Supermodels Lily Cole and Erin O'Connor also watched Westwood's show, which was the climax of the second day of London Fashion Week.
Last night saw the hotly anticipated collection from fashion icon and actress, Sienna Miller and her sister Savannah.
Other highlights to come include the latest collection from Ramsbottom designer, Henry Holland.

On the other hand Thaitanium didn't watch it as he was too busy trying to earn a living. Always nice to know that high fashion is sooo important the women down the road up to their knees in swamp planting rice (180 Thai baht a day £1= 50 baht) were thrilled to bits when I told them and they can't wait to buy these wonderful fashion items as soon as they save up for about 40 years.

Well I never, you learn something new everyday as I never knew Henry Holland designed Ramsbottom but if I were old Henry I would keep stum about it.
