A FIRM which makes sports drinks was fined £2,000 and ordered to pay £3,000 costs after a worker's hand was severely injured by machinery.
M P Bio Science International pleaded guilty before Buxton magistrates to 'failing to take measures to prevent access to a dangerous part of machinery'.
The accident happened in August last year at a plant in Buxton when an employee tried to unblock a jammed machine.
An access panel was removed while a machine was still running and the employee put his hand inside and was caught by a rotating blade.
His injuries included the severing of tendons and ligaments and he.was unable to work for almost two months. He still has restricted movement.
