WAYNE Rooney has splashed out on a £6m holiday home on Barbados.
He and wife Coleen bought a plot of land on the exclusive
Royal Westmoreland Estate on the west coast and are finalising plans for a luxury six-bedroom colonial-style property.
It is understood the couple visited several times before choosing the site of their luxury retreat on the edge of a golf course with views over the Caribbean.
As well as the main house, there will be a guest cottage to accommodate the large family.
A host of other sports stars, including Michael Vaughan, Alan Shearer, Gary Lineker and Rooney's Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand already own houses on the estate.
It was bought four years ago by north west businessman John Morphet who has invested millions in improving facilities and there are plans for a second 18-hole golf course.
The 750-acre gated estate is five minutes from the west coast beaches which continue to attract star-studded investment with Simon Cowell and Sir Andrew Loyd Webber recently buying £20m villas.

It's his money and he can spend it as he pleases. We would all do the same if we had his wealth.

It is because of people like Mr Rooney paying 40% Tax on his money that means workshy scrotes can eat at McDonalds.

But realistically my view is that Football is overrated even though CITY is my second love after my friends any family.
MY view is Rooney is over rated and over paid over here and over there.
But who wouldn't like a nice retreat so good luck to rooney there.
I have heard a rumour that the front of the building is a cardboard facade and it is attached to a goats barn.
