THE parents of one of the victims have spoken of their shock.
Christopher Morrison, who celebrated his 23rd birthday last week, was a fitness enthusiast from Middleton, who was studying to qualify as a gym instructor.
His mum, Bernice Morrison, 57, sitting beside a bunch of flowers Christopher had sent her for her birthday, said: "It hasn't sunk in yet. It's terrible. I can't believe it."
Christopher's dad, Joe, 61, said: "We're devastated. It's such a waste. He'd just met a new girlfriend."
He added: "He liked to go to the gym. He was there every day. He didn't smoke. He kept fit and he hardly ever had a drink. The ironic thing is he was taking driving lessons."
Christopher was a former pupil of Cardinal Langley RC High School.
A teenager injured in a hit-and-run incident continued to fight for his life over the weekend. The 14-year-old boy was on his way home from school when a dark car mounted the kerb and hit him, then sped away.
The boy was taken to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in Pendlebury with head injuries and a broken leg. His condition remained critical.
The incident happened on Thursday at 4.40pm on Kingsway at its junction with Broadway in Cheadle.
