Shoppers flee Tesco raid

ARMED robbers stormed a busy Tesco supermarket, forcing terrified shoppers to cower and run away.

Four masked men wielding a machete ran into Tesco on Valley Park Road, Prestwich, and tried to smash through security glass at a bureau de change in the store.

Shoppers panicked and ran further inside the shop as the balaclava-clad robbers made off with some cash.

The men ran away after the robbery, abandoning a vehicle at the scene, at about 6.50pm on Friday evening.

Now this government has had to finally use the 'r' word (for recession), can they now admit that violent crime is an epidemic, and instigate appropriately tough measures? Of course they won't. I have no confidence or faith in them whatsoever.

more and more crime involving robberies are taking place as more people are losing their jobs something has to be done NOW

Stop blaming the government for mindless, stupid thugs who think they are the brains of Britain for attacking the supermarket, where there is CCTV cameras basically coming out of their backsides.

Brains have gone missing for everyone involved in this.

umpire 2, they are not so thick when they know there are very flimsy deterrents which don't make them think twice about what they do. I thought it WAS the Government's job when ordinary citizens are so forbidden from taking any steps themselves to defend themselves from thugs? You don't take the law into your own hands, so logically it is the role of the authorities.

Are they doing enough? No!!!

Sorry PW, I think you are wrong, what has happen to society, what has happen to people in the UK, they are too scared to do anything because we have too many guns/knives being used by morons.

Also, if the government or the police did something, we would get people moaning and complaining what they did was against the culprits human rights or against the law, never mind they broke the law in the first place.

well this country breeds such scum like this by tying up the police in red tape and paperwork.

also the courts and judges that pass such lenient sentances show how much crime does actually pay in todays society!

im disgusted at being british!
