Police target gangs

POLICE carried out raids across Greater Manchester this morning to crackdown on young gangsters.

As the MEN was going to press, Six people had been arrested following raids at 17 addresses in Longsight and one in Tameside just before 9am.

More arrests were expected and searches of the properties were continuing. The operation was aimed at targeting teenage gangsters before they become involved in major gangland shootings.

Officers from GMP's long-running anti-gang campaign, Xcalibre Task Force, as well as the Tactical Aid Unit, uniform officers, the Dog Unit and Police Community Support Officers, were involved in the operation.

Supt Paul Savill said: "Today we have used tactics to disrupt gangs. It is important that young people who are becoming involved in gangs are stopped now."

Disrupting gangs ?..Mr Savill your rhetoric,coupled with their disregard of any Law is meaningless...Strike hard and strike firm,never aim to disrupt,aim to eradicate.

"Six people had been arrested",.."More arrests were expected and searches of the properties were continuing", all of these will get slapped wrists when they stand before the judge, who should be charged with wasting police time when they dole out ridiculously lenient sentences.
Here is a crazy suggestion, replace the prison system for "live in" factories, where they work a 40 hour week for their b&b, the profits from the products/business ploughed into victim support/community pot.

I don't think the MEN and other newspapers help when the gangs are referred to as the "Notorious [NAME] Crew" or "Gang"
This description just inflates their already oversized and pathetic egos.
An example of this is written in the article today about the guns which have been seized.
Obviously, these stories have to be reported, but they can done without these needless references.

The gangs could be easily eradicated if it wasn't for the lack of will by the police and then the liberal judges and self-interested freeloading lawyers who take great delight in scoring brownie points by getting the scum off on technicalities. A good hard boot camp American style will sort them out.

Where else but the uk could the police call raiding 18 addresses and arresting 6 people a success. They should be holding their heads in shame,
Incompetent policing at its best.

A better headline would be, "police kicked down the doors of 12 innocent households"

The level of re-offending isn't as high because the scumbags are given proper sentences not housed in holiday camps or given rewards for their crimes.
