THE economic gloom was dispelled for a night when developers across the region came together at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester for the MEN Residential Property Awards.
From hundreds of developments, the judges had selected a shortlist of 18 across seven categories and visited them all before making their vote.
Comedian and magician John Lenahan was host for the evening which was again sponsored by Allied London, Manchester City Council, Rowlands solicitors and the Environment Agency. The results are:
Affordable property - 3 Towers, Urban Splash. Splash's scheme on Rochdale Road has managed to make affordable, aspirational. Prices at these funky re-fits start at £47,500 for a 50 per cent stake, and the judges were impressed by the space and light and overall feel of the scheme.

Family Home - Stockton Road, Chorlton. Home. These three houses re-write family living with space over four floors and they impressed with their clean lines, great materials and attention to detail in the finish.

Best Conversion - Longlands Mill, Stalybridge.
Urban Splash. Of the three mills shortlisted this stole the show, mainly because as much attention is paid to the crucial common areas as the apartments. Great quality materials used, great sense of place and good sized living spaces.

Sustainable property - Stockton Road, Chorlton. Home. Solar panels and a wood burning stove add sustainable energy into an already stylish mix. The houses meet level 3 on the new code for sustainable homes making them super efficient.

Developer of the Year - LPC Living. A hard choice with all three finalists, Countryside, Great Places and LPC making a radical difference to the region's neighbourhoods. LPC won the vote because of the scale of the transformation underway in Ordsall.
