Take That add fifth date

Take That fans

TAKE That added a fifth date for Manchester this afternoon after the first four sold out within hours.

The original  three gigs at Lancashire's Old Trafford ground on June 26, 27 and 28 sold out within an hour after going on sale at 9am today.

Organisers added the June 24 to cope with demand, but when this also sold out quickly, they announced a fifth date for 23 June.

As well as the extra Manchester dates, the band will also play another gig at Hampden Park in Glasgow on June 19.

More than 100 fans camped out overnight in sub-zero temperatures to make sure they got their hands on tickets for the band's summer concerts in Manchester.

Tickets went on sale at the cricket ground at 9am today but some fans arrived as early as Wednesday afternoon.

One of the first to emerge from the ticket office was Diane Watkinson, 36, a civil servant from Chorley who bought six tickets at £45 each.

"It's brilliant. No internet. No phones. And stress free," she said. Diane joined the queue last night but was among a few fans who left and stayed in the cricket club hotel having been handed a ticket which guaranteed their place in the queue.

However, many fans didn't risk leaving the queue.

Katie Jackman, 18, from Birmingham, said: "I got here at about 11.45am on Wednesday. I was outside until about 8 o'clock last night. They gave us raffle tickets and I stayed in the hotel. I joined the queue again at six this morning."

Lindsay Ward, 23, from Irlam, one of those who spent the night camped on the pavement, said: "It got very cold, but it's been fun.

"We didn't quite believe the man when he offered to give us raffle tickets to guarantee our place in the queue. We didn't want to go home and lose our place in the queue."

Lee Ramsden, 31, a lorry driver of Droylsden, also camped out to get tickets for himself and his Take That-mad children Naomi, 7, and Kelsie-Leigh, 5. He said: "They are just normal guys from Manchester and it's good music. I think they are better this time than they were before."

Katie Swann, 23, from Warrington, said: "It's been good fun and it meant we were at the front of the queue for tickets."

Mike Mawdsley, 25, from Southport said he had to come because his girlfriend, Lindsey Foster, 25, from Warrington, was a big fan. He said: "My girlfriend made me come."

I don't understand people paying good money to see Gary Barlow and three backing singers.

Why Queue up in the cold when you could just buy them online in the warm like i did?

What is annoying is genuine fans trying to get tickets and seeing them being sold on E-Bay at the same time for £300.00 per ticket. It really is not fair for genuine fans who just want to go and see the lads play.

Manchester By Day, are you an Oasis fan by any chance?

No, just amazed at the attention that Gary Barlow and three backing singers get. I certainly don't "get" it at all.

pol - I completely agree, it's disgusting the amount of tickets on ebay! Thing is it'll never stop until people stop buying off there, but it's never going to happen is it :(

I may be wrong but apart from Corporate Hospitality and Guest areas aren't these gigs General Admission which means these fans will have to queue again to get the front row positions that their dedication deserves or will there be another set of raffle tickets given out by the promoters ?
