Thaksin Shinawatra

OUTGOING Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra has been found guilty of corruption and sentenced to two years in jail by Thailand's Supreme Court.

The former PM was not present for the ruling, having fled to exile in England two months ago.

The ruling was the first against him since he was removed in a 2006 military coup after being accused of corruption and abuse of power.

Thaksin faced charges of abuse of power and conflict of interest for allegedly helping his wife's purchase of lucrative Bangkok land from a state agency in 2003 while he was prime minister.

Thaksin's wife Pojaman, who was tried with him, was acquitted. She is also in exile.

Thaksin faces several other corruption-related cases.

MEN ...you may also need to mention that the 9 man ruling court voted 5-4 to convict so I'd say the evidence was less than clear cut based on that.

BOLT HOLD BRITAIN Most criminals aim for britain with its laxed border controls and its soft laws and human rights.And all backed up with a free legal aid system to fight their causes,all at the taxpayers expence...Throw him back home to face his prison sentence..Its not our problem.

I am Man Citys biggest fan (not in height of girth)...in terms of support!

And no, no all City fans support criminals.... He bought the club for his own reasons... to try and get support and cover his crimes.

Good luck with the extradition. A sorry chapter in MCFC history!
