A POLICEMAN arrested after a fight in a pub after a family funeral will NOT face criminal charges.
Pc Mark Taylor was arrested after a fracas during a wake at the Dog and Partridge on Didsbury Road, Stockport.
Pc Taylor, who is based at Elizabeth Slinger Road police station in West Didsbury, was off duty and has consistently maintained he was an innocent party caught up in a family dispute.
No one was seriously hurt, but police were called and Pc Taylor was arrested.
Now the Crown Prosecution Service has decided he will not be charged. It is also thought an internal police report has called for no disciplinary action.
Pc Taylor was allowed to return to work as a police officer, but was placed on `restrictive duties' while the investigation continued.
Record
Now senior officers are considering whether to sign off the internal report, allowing Pc Taylor to return to his duties with an unblemished record.
When the M.E.N. reported on the fight in May, one member of staff at the pub said: "There was a scuffle between some family members. It was dealt with."
A statement from GMP said: "This incident was investigated, and a file submitted to CPS, who decided no further action should be taken against the Pc.
"GMP is now in the process of reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident and will consider whether any internal disciplinary matters need to be addressed."

If he hadn't been a 'bobby', he wouldn't have been nicked.
No one hurt, no aggreived party... as an MOP, he would probably have had his wrists slapped and sent on his way.
Too many newbie cops - and senior officers with no real experience of life - trying to appear impartial in the 'job' now.
I saw the aftermath to this. 4 police vans and about 30 people stood outside and some others sheltering in the petrol station up the road. If the police claim this was just a little scuffle, they evacuated the pub like it was a full blown riot.
