Pub alert over Celtic clash

MANCHESTER Pubs in the city centre have been warned to be extra vigilant ahead of Manchester United's Champions League tie with Glasgow Celtic next Tuesday.

Licensees have been asked to ensure all safety measures, including door staff, extra bar staff and plastic `glasses' are in place for the night of the game.

Manchester Pub and Club Network spokesman Phil Burke said Celtic fans were welcome in the city but urged fans of both teams to drink sensibly and in moderation so they could enjoy the `right kind of atmosphere.'

The warning follows the alcohol-fuelled clashes that erupted in the city centre when thousands of Glasgow Rangers fans came to Manchester for their Uefa Cup Final tie at Eastlands in May.

Lets hope that there isn't a repeat of the violence and mayhem that occurred when Glasgow Rangers supporters visited Manchester last year.

How about some interpreters? I overheard some Glaswegian workers last week in a pub, and I really hadn't the foggiest what they were saying. I'm not being offensive because I like Scots. Just fact.

Every time they have visited,urinating everywhere in front of children, making the place smell of it for days after,walking round drinking cans of alcohol, abusing the public,bullying african women who are on their own,dancing and singing IRA songs outside M and S,at the place where the bomb went off,smashing places up and I wont even start on all the Cathlic/Protesant nonsense that comes with it all.

David: there's an element of that behaviour with every football team on the planet. Was there widespread disturbance last year when Celtic visited Old Trafford? I personally don't think there was.

To be honest I think the occasion for Celtic is slightly different to when Rangers where here. Its a bit unfair to tarr them all with the same brush now

Celtic fans are good in general, the Rangers fans were terrible when they came here.
Someone might get the odd Glasgow Kiss.
