FIREFIGHTERS were called to Styal Prison after a fire was started in a cell.

Crews were called to the Cheshire women's prison at 4.40pm yesterday where a pile of bedding had been set alight.

The fire was out when firefighters arrived.

The fire was started deliberately, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
