The businessman, famous for ripping off customers of his Oldham kitchen firm, was photographed cutting the grass in a churchyard as part of a community punishment order.
Instead of his trademark designer suit, he put on a scruffy tracksuit and fluorescent jacket to start work in Ramsbottom.
But he had lost none of his customary arrogance as he began the job on a chilly afternoon at Edenfield Parish Church.
He said: "I'm having a great time. It's like a day out."
Miller, 43, was ordered to do 100 hours of unpaid work after attacking a gas board official who had come to read his meter.
The court heard how he refused to let him in then confronted him and slapped him as he sat in his car.
Miller, from Ramsbottom, was exposed by the M.E.N in 2001 for ripping off customers and has spent time in prison for failing to clean up his act.
He now says he is a reformed character.
In May this year he escaped a further jail sentence despite being found guilty of contempt of court.
He was given a six-month suspended sentence after breaching a 2002 order to clean up his act.
Next year Miller is set to appear in court to fight charges of conspiracy to defraud and conspiracy to apply false descriptions to goods.
The charges followed an 18-month probe said to be the largest counter fraud operation ever undertaken by trading standards officers. Tweet

hardly adequate recompense for the "crime" and the time, effort and cost of investigating!
Should have made him clean a few kitchens up.
This is just another typical story to make Vance look bad again. Its not even true! Compared to his real job, community sevice is like a day out becouse hes always worked hard to get to where he is today. so go on vance, good on you!
Of course it isn't true Hannah...we believe you!
Mince Valler is grate and innocent to. Shut up, he is.
V. Miller
Hello everybody
Another story trying to make Vance look bad. Sometimes I bet he wishes he had a nice simple life like mine or the average person.
I'm a member off staff that works for vance and every day all you see him do is working harder and harder to improve his company and keep a smile on his face. Even though it seem's everybody is againt him in the outside world.
Infact I agree the community service will do him good he will be able to have a brake or a rest from the hard work he does on a day to day basis and thats including weekends.I just hope he does'nt give up and carry's on fighting the bad publicity. Because one day people will see the good in him sooner or later. and maybe the M.E.N will expose him for that!!!
Well said, Alan. It won't be long before this 'diamond geezer' is handing out awards at the Pride of Britain ceremony.
Another article slating Vance Miller, i really think there is something that is going on that we do not know about because all these bad things about his companies and himself cant just come from nowhere, after you watch all the tv programs that have been made about Vance and you see what he goes through to find the cheapest made things in china and so on and whilst he is talking in the documentaries you really do see he is not that bad and he really goes through a lot of hard work for his companies, and to me a man that will travel all over the world to find the cheapest kitchen equipment is not a con man, OK fair enough he looks a bit hot headed but is that a reason to treat him like this. NO!.
When this article was printed in the paper back in October the same day i sent an email to mike Keegan giving my view on his article and asking him some questions and guess what he never replied that is how much they are bothered about what they write if he was truly bothered about his article and thought they were 100% truth he would of replied to my email maybe not the same day but 1 week down the line but nothing.
