POLICE have recovered body from a canal in Manchester city centre.

Officers were called to the Rochdale canal at Dale Street after a member of the public spotted a man in the water just after 2am this morning.

Police divers recovered a man's body some five hours later. His identity is not yet known.

A GMP spokeswoman said the death is not believed to be suspicious.
