A MOTORIST ended up in hospital after his car was involved in a collision with a police patrol car.

He suffered 'minor injuries' during the smash in Littleborough, Rochdale. 

The passenger side of his Vauxhall Corsa was severely damaged and the car ended up on the pavement of Todmorden Road.

This picture taken by an M.E.N. reader shows the front of the police patrol car was crushed during the smash at 10.45am.

The police officer, who was said to be on a regular patrol the time of the incident, was not seriously hurt.

A section of Todmorden Road was closed while officers cleared the debris and started an investigation into the incident.
