A MOUSE-INFESTED store has been fined £4,000.
Health inspectors found that mice had gnawed through sacks of food at Data Cash and Carry, on Clarendon Road.
They also found mouse droppings and urine throughout the property. They went to the cash-and-carry after a customer saw droppings and complained to the council.
The premises were closed down after the April 25 visit.
They were reopened after a clean-up operation three days later.
The cash-and-carry was fined £4,000 by Manchester magistrates for two separate food hygiene offences and ordered to pay costs of £1,200.
Coun Richard Cowell described the standards of hygiene at the cash-and- carry as `appalling' and `a clear risk to public health'.
