TALENTED designer Naomi Jackson is hoping to sketch out a career in the fashion industry by winning a top competition.

Fashion design graduate Naomi, from Alkrington, Middleton, has made the North West Designer of the Year final.

The 23-year-old, who went to Manchester Metropolitan University, beat off stiff competition to showcase her designs at the fashion finale tonight.

Hundreds entered the competition hoping to make the top 10 and have their outfits modelled by professionals at the Triangle shopping centre.

Naomi, who hopes to start her own fashion label, said: "To win this competition will certainly put my name on the fashion `radar'.

"The designer industry is so difficult to break, but I'm confident my collection will make the grade and hopefully win me the title.

"I'm very excited just to make the final, but winning it would be a dream come true.

"Hopefully everyone from Middleton will get behind me and support me on the day."
