FLEETWOOD Police probing the blaze which destroyed the town's historic pier are `keeping an open mind' about how it started.

The near century-old pier was reduced to a smouldering mass of twisted metal.

The fire is believed to have started at the front of the pier near a closed-down pub and cafe.
