A MAN had 28 stitches to a slash wound to his neck after being subjected to an unprovoked and brutal attack with a glass bottle in a Rochdale pub.
The victim had to be taken to Rochdale Infirmary for urgent treatment after suffering a deep cut, in the attack in the Railway Inn, on Yorkshire Street, late on Saturday night.
Police are appealing to anyone who can help them trace the attacker, who is described as white, stocky in build, in his mid 30's, around six feet tall, and wearing a light coloured jumper.
Police Constable Jonathan Carter said: "This was a completely brutal and unprovoked assault which I am sure many people would have witnessed.
"The victim suffered a serious injury to his neck, which could have been a lot worse, and I am appealing to anyone that may have seen something to come forward so we can find this man, who is clearly dangerous."
Anyone with any information is asked to call Rochdale CID 0161 856 7225 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555.
