A RAPIST is being hunted by police after going on the run during a trial.
Nasser Iqbal, 21, of Russell Street, Bolton failed to appear for the final day of the five day trial at Bolton Crown Court on May 23 this year.
He was convicted in his absence of raping a 20-year-old woman in Slater Street, Bolton in August 2006 and ordered to serve six-and-a-half years in prison.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen him to get in touch.
A police spokesman said: "Officers have made extensive enquiries to find Iqbal, however he still has not been traced.
"He has links to the Fairfield area of Liverpool, Bolton and Bury and officers are keen to hear from anyone who has seen him or who knows of his whereabouts."
