A TRAM and a Mercedes car crashed in Manchester city centre today causing major disruption to traffic.

The accident happened in Mosley Street near Manchester Art Gallery at 1.20pm.

The car driver was unhurt but a passenger from the tram was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Mosley Street was closed to allow police to examine the scene and remove the car.
