A MANCHESTER City fan who ran on the pitch for a bet has been banned from the ground `indefinitely'.

Blues die-hard Lance McCaffrey, 27, ran on to the pitch at the pre-season friendly with AC Milan after a £50 bet with his brother.

The sheet metal worker, of Derby Street, Oldham, vaulted the advertising boards in the 89th minute, lifted his shirt above his head and ran across the Eastlands turf in front of a 25,000 crowd.

He was arrested, fined £100 and banned from every league ground for three years.

But now the Blues have gone a step further and told him he's not welcome `indefinitely' because of his `stupid' behaviour.

Lance said :"I'm devastated. I had no idea I would get into so much trouble. I only did it for a laugh and it was only a friendly."

Imposing the banning order, magistrates heard Lance had been drinking before the game earlier this month, but had not been violent.

He is now planning a trip to his brother in Failsworth to pick up his £50 `winnings'.

He said: "I've still not had it yet so I'll be paying him a visit - that's the least he can do."

A spokesman for Manchester City said the ban would be for at least three years and `may be reviewed' after that.
