A MUM-OF-SEVEN who starved her dog to half its natural weight has been banned from keeping animals for 15 years.
Jeanette Oliver, 39, let her 14-month-old mastiff-type dog fall to less than 52lb. RSPCA inspectors discovered the dog, called Rex, severely emaciated and dehydrated at Oliver's home on Hiley Road, Eccles, in March after a tip-off. There was no dog food in the house.
Salford magistrates heard that the dog was so thin that Oliver's children were ashamed to walk him.
Oliver was charged with causing unnecessary suffering to her pet and failing to meet its needs. She was found guilty in her absence on August 12. Yesterday the Hope hospital cleaner was ordered to do 120 hours' unpaid work and pay £375 in costs.
The court also gave Oliver a two-year supervision order and took Rex away.
