A MAN is seriously ill in hospital following a road crash.

The 40-year-old pedestrian was in Silk Street, Salford, when the collision with a white Iveco van happened at 4.50am yesterday .

The van was being driven by a 46-year-old man near the junction with North George Street. The man was taken to Salford Royal Hospital with a head injury and suspected broken ankle and remains in a serious but stable condition.
