CORPORAL Richard Wareing, is with II squadron RAF Regiment, responsible for force protection at Basra air station. He has spent a total of 14 months across three tours in Iraq. Cpl Wareing, 28, from Northwich, Cheshire, said: “During my first tour in 2004 there was all sorts going on. By 2005 it had calmed down a bit but after the brigade pulled out of the city we started to get hit quite a bit more.
“This tour can be busy at times but it depends on what the terrorists feel like. If they fancy a good day we get hit nine times out of ten.
“I enjoy my job but I'm looking forward to getting back home.”
