Police will carry out high-visibility patrols in hotspot areas of Rochdale's Kirkholt estate, home of Gemma Stafford.
Stafford was caged, along with four others, after a 27-year-old man was knocked unconscious in Rochdale's town centre.
Shocking CCTV footage showed the teenager - said to be the 'brains of the gang' - turning the victim over as he lay on the floor and rifling through his pockets.
The disturbing images have been broadcast nationally and the M.E.N. website has been inundated with comments from readers outraged at the attack.
A mobile police station will be located at various points on the estate during the 10-day crackdown, which starts today. Services available include an offer for local people to have their vehicle number plates locked on after a spate of thefts and there will also be crime prevention information.
Community bobbies will work with council officials and target areas they feel suffer from anti-social behaviour, criminal damage and fly tipping. Police will also be visiting homes of those affected by crime.

Insp Michelle Hughes said: "We are determined that law-abiding residents should not have their quality of life affected by a criminal minority, and we will continue to run initiatives like this in future."
Stafford, 18, of Hilltop Drive was said to have denied any involvement in the attack until being confronted with the CCTV evidence. She was jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to violent disorder and theft at Bolton Crown Court.
Stuart Shaw, 20, of Bridge Street, Heywood; Andrew Harbourne, 19, of Clever Street, Burnley; and Joshua McErlean, 19, of Bury Road, Rochdale, were jailed for four years each after pleading guilty to assault and violent disorder.
A 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced to 18 months' youth detention after pleading guilty to assault and violent disorder.

The strand is notorious for gangs of scum hanging around and robbing people after they have been to the shop there
On a more positive note the cash machine last filled up in 1993 has not been used and still has the same amount put in as the honest people living up there are too scared to use it.
move the maybe 100 honest residents out Wall it up and let them kill each other

I have been to many countries and done many things in my time but one I have not tried and don't want to is going to prison.
If you do want to try this experience may I suggest that you try it in the U.K. not here.
No welfare, no help at all for families who have someone in the nick don't have cells but a room for 40 people and 1 squat toilet and they have to work to pay for their keep, sounds great don't you think?
I reckon thats one of the reasons my family and I feel safe walking at night never been broken into (yet) our vehicles are not stolen or vandalised can anyone else see a link here?

However, I live in the Netherlands through the week because of work.
I have bought a house here, I enjoy life here and we just don’t get this type of crime where I live. Yes in Amsterdam it can get a bit 'rough' in certain areas, but violent crime like this here is a very rare occurrence.
Despite the Netherlands general 'liberal' approach, the Cops here can be demons! Honestly, they do practice a 'zero tolerance' approach when it comes to gangs of youths. Anymore than 4 teenagers on a corner and the Police do harass and move them on. Everywhere we go we also see high profile policing and 'bobbies' everywhere.
Also, the Dutch youth have a very different outlook! Low teen pregnancy (although this is a little different with the immigrant population from Suriname and Turkey), however, on the whole, there is very little trouble.
Next summer my boy finishes college. He loves it here. My family is coming out to live here with me permanently.
I don’t like to say it, but it’s true. England has gone to the dogs, the feral youth rule your lives, and you have an ineffectual police force and a joke of a punishment system with a government that couldn’t care less!
When the last decent, honest and hardworking member of the UK leaves, 'turn the lights out'!

I would like to see a return to victorian conditions in prison - inmates leading a hard, harsh, hungry life where they have to work, get no privelidges and are allowed no visitors.
No doubt the usual know-it-all, liberal half-wits will suggest that such regimes do not affect crime levels but I simply disagree - as do the vast majority of intelligent people.

The justice system in this country is PATHETIC and needs a serious overhaul now!
I have been brought up in Wythenshawe and i can stand proud and say that at 35 years old, I have never taken any drugs of any kind and i have never been in trouble with the police or been arrested. I have worked hard since leaving school and now have to work two jobs to survive and support my wife and children and i have paid for everything i own with hard earned cash.
(Oh and for the record my Mother and Father are still married and will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary next year.)
I for one wish i could afford to leave this lawless country because there seems to be no saving light or hope at the end of the tunnel for me or my children.
God help Britain!
