A MAN has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was stabbed at her home in Stalybridge.

Police were called to the property in St Paul's Street, Stalybridge, just after 11pm on Saturday and discovered the woman with stab wounds.

She was taken to hospital where her condition is described as critical.

Frederick Murray, 48, of St Paul's Street, Stalybridge, was due to appear before Tameside magistrates later today charged with attempted murder.
